With 300,000 inhabitants, Augsburg is the third largest city in Bavaria after Munich and Nuremberg. Berthold Brecht and the Fuggers have made it famous. All well and good, you think, but what exactly does the city of Augsburg offer me? Why should I spend my semester abroad here?
With the city hall and the Perlachturm, the Fuggerei, the Botanical Garden and the Zoo Augsburg offers some sights and a lot of space for leisure activities. The city is also home to many museums, such as the Maximilian Museum, the Glass Palace and the State Textile and Industrial Museum. Augsburg is also home to the world-famous Puppenkiste, home of Jim Knopf and Urmel aus dem Eis. The Theater Augsburg offers a varied program on a total of three stages; there is always a discount for students.
Our city also has a lot to offer when it comes to nightlife: there is something for everyone! In Maximilianstraße you will find an abundance of different cafés, bars and clubs. In the Mahagonibar we organize our ESN-Party several times a semester. Erasmus parties also take place regularly at the Pi Club.
In the City Galerie or the Annastraße in the city centre you will find everything your shopping heart desires.
And don't worry: wheat beer and white sausage are also available in Augsburg.
